Editor for Kotlin Communications
Москва
Kotlin is a modern programming language used by millions of software developers globally. Nowadays, a language is way more than just a set of rules: it has its own tools that developers use, an extensive library of ready-made building blocks for making programs, and a whole philosophy of how to write programs best. The Kotlin team publishes a lot of content on the Kotlin website, blog, and twitter. We are planning to expand to more formats such as video and podcasts.
We are looking for a person who’s very good with texts to oversee our entire content production. One of the key challenges for this job is to make sure that even the most complex things are explained clearly, and a reader-friendly tone of voice is consistent across all our communications.
You will work with technical writers, marketing specialists, engineers, and product managers and guide their work where it comes to making words click with the reader. We often engage with partners such as Google, Adobe, Amazon, and Netflix and make co-promotions and other content together, so expect some external collaborations as well.
Things to do:
- Edit, clarify, and proofread texts written by others, and coach authors on ways to improve their writing.
- Set the standard of storytelling, clarity, style, and tone of voice of all the content created by different teams. Codify the style guide.
- Keep in mind the preferences of our users to make our content clear and likable.
- Make sure your edits keep the technical meaning. Engineers on the team will be happy to help.
Requirements:
- Editorial and writing experience
- Fluent written and spoken English
- The ability to translate technical or complex ideas into clear, concise text.
- Proven writing skills for software, engineering, or IT company, product, or media.
